Here is a simply beautiful Victorian 9ct Gold locket / pendant dating to c1885. This romantic sweetheart locket is beautifully decorated to the front with stunning black enamelling, displaying the sentance: 'Not Lost But Gone Before'. The centre image is of a broken pillar, which in Masonic circles signifies the loss of a loved one.
There is further ornate engraving of ivy leaves (representing the sentimental phrase, 'cling to thee', forget me not flowers, and a four leaf clover/shamrock. A very small, 'M W' can also be seen inside a central engraved heart. The locket containes its frames and perspex covers but is empty inside with space to hold 2 photos or a momento of a loved one and it comes complete with its large, decorated bail.
This wonderful antique locket weighs 12.85g and measures 3.5cm x 2.7cm excluding its bail. It is all made of 9ct yellow gold fronted & back with an inner metal, so the locket is nice & strong.
